SOURCES: CHINA FOLLOWING JAPAN IN PURSUIT OF SUPERSONIC AND HYPERSONIC/TRANSATMOSPHERIC AIRLINER PLATFORMS WITH MILITARY APPLICATIONS

(Hong Kong )  -   eMOTION! REPORTS.com sources are advising of China's intensified pursuit of near-term supersonic and long-term hypersonic/transatmospheric airliner platforms with military applications.

In addition to the goals and objectives for its burgeoning aerospace industry as outlined in the United States China Economic and Security Review Commission  (http://www.uscc.gov/) report "READY FOR TAKEOFF: CHINA'S ADVANCING AEROSPACE INDUSTRY" ( http://t.co/u3UEIuR ) China has not only closely followed Japan's JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) supersonic and hypersonic airliner development, but has been able to acquire through its intelligence services the most current research data associated with the initiative.  These data, in conjunction with open and closed source materials obtained through NASA, national labs, Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, Airbus and multiple academic institutions with whom they have association, renders China poised to roll-out a 3/4 scale proof of aerodynamic design and propulsion systems test bed aircraft as early as 2013.

"They will beat Japan to market", says one source, "and the Chinese military is seeing to it that they do.  Anyone still entertaining the unsupportable and foolish notion that the Chinese are merely copyists devoid of any internal innovation capability, need look no further than their expanding militarization of space program which will include a Shuttle fleet as NASA is ordered to retire its own;  their Aegis BMD System clone stolen through a front company registered as a Lockheed-Martin supplier; their J-20 Stealth fighter based on covertly acquired F-22/ F-35 technological/manufacturing process data and stealth technology acquired through components provided by Serbia in the aftermath of an F-117 shoot-down during the Kosovo conflict; and the now operational retrofitted Kuznetsov-class Carrier (Varyag) Shi Lang."

The source further noted that China's militarization of space and ultra-high performance commercial and military aircraft initiatives are designed to optimize, expand and accelerate its internal strategy of Gradual debilitation of a nation competitor's offensive/defensive capabilities inclusive of economic destabilization.

"This is nothing new philosophically for China.  In fact, it is the epitomization of Sun-Tzu.  In my view, the greatest threat of the moment to US national security is not so much from without, but from within; a circumstance fostered and fomented by extra-national forces," he said.

In this vein, it is also worth noting that China's troubling and expanding one-on-one business relationships with states of the Union has the added benefit of giving it ease of access to proprietary and defense sensitive technologies, as noted in the industrial base scenario presented in the book Project on National Security Reform Vision Working Group Report and Scenarios (Edited by Dr. Sheila Ronis)
http://www.slideshare.net/GHHLLC2/project-on-national-security-reform-vision-working-group-report-and-scenarios-including-industrial-base-south-china-sea

"In all elements of its national re-identification as a military and economic force to be reckoned with," the source continued, "China's understanding of systems thinking, from dominating the high ground of air and space to the fragmenting of governmental infrastructure within nations, would be appalling to [Dr. W. Edwards] Deming himself. "

USAF Tanker Award Update 3/2/11 - Boeing Response to Public Reports Regarding the WTO's Interim Decision in DS 353 - Sep 15, 2010

Publisher's note: In light of the recent award to Boeing for the long awaited US AirForce Tanker contract, prompting pro/con comments from industry executives and policy makers involved in the process, we offer an excerpt from a 9 October, 2009 press release...

Boeing 767-derived aerial refueling tanker: Ultimate winner in a hotly contested competition  Image: Boeing Military

Tanker Procurement Process Observations:

"Further commenting on the recent re-release of USAF Tanker competitive requirements after Boeing's successful protest to the GAO against EADS/Airbus, Stokes conveys the viewpoints of several academic, government and industrial associates that the need to preserve C-17 is as critically important as the necessity of having the tanker requirement fulfilled by a true US firm. "'It must be designed, developed, engineered, manufactured and sustained in the United States. This is not jingoism, this is not nationalism, this is not representative of a disturbing naivete as concerns the so-called 'new globality', but rather, a recognition that the country's industrial base must be maintained. Moreover, it must be OWNED and controlled by American firms with a strongly supportive role by the US government as is common practice by other industrialized nations.

"'This is to say, even if the A330-based Tanker were indeed designed, engineered and manufactured here, the question at the end of the day is 'Where does the money go?' Answer: To overseas bank accounts. Also, 'Would there be any guarantees that manufacturing and design would remain on these shores in the event of a global economic schism (again) thereby resulting in calls by company stakeholders to shrink the company's global footprint in the interests of 'fiduciary responsibility?'"

"Based on the recorded activities of international corporations, the answer is no.

"'The idea that obvious illegalities in the form of WTO disallowed EU subsidies designed to give EADS/Airbus ( Northrop-Grumman, with its extraordinary history of aircraft development, is nothing more than, sadly, a front to give the illusion of "Americaness" to their overtures) a competitive advantage in price is dismissed by DoD procurement officers as irrelevant or "having no bearing in the ultimate decision" (paraphrased) is suggesting a departure from logic, reason, conventional wisdom and a complete lack of of understanding that the US defense and industrial bases are one and the same."'

"Stokes suggests a much needed expansion of the DoD's paraphrased assertion that 'we are in pursuit of the best value for the warfighter' would include '...,the American worker and taxpayer.'"

"'To be sure," Stokes further states, ""No other country on earth, neither Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Japan, South Korea, China... no one would give away a core element of its critical industrial base which this Tanker, as built by Boeing with its clearly superior aircraft build skillsets, represents.'"

Boeing Long Beach Layoffs Looming, Global HeavyLift Pushes 120+ C-17s in 2012-2020 DoD Budgets Via "Transformational Recapitalization"

Firm Remains Convinced Funding Methodology Will Forever Change DoD Acquisition, Production and Congressional Approval Processes, While Restoring Financial Equilibrium; China's Rise as Military and Economic Power -Exemplified by J-20 Gen5 Stealth Fighter Taxi/Flight Tests and Now Operational Aircraft Carrier Shi Lang - Renders Current Austerity Policies Profoundly Unwise

Chicago, IL January 21, 2011 (PressReleasePoint) -- In another addendum to its July 17, 2010, September 02, June 25, May 31, 2009 and 2007/2006 press releases among others, Global HeavyLift Holdings, a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) listed (www.ccr.gov) entity with principal offices in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is clearly indicating that continued C-17 production, now being scaled back by Boeing, is inextricably linked to its business strategies. Principals also believe funding for this superlative airlifter is not the issue; rather, it’s the process.

“Budgetary constraints, with due respect, exist only in the minds of those in the public and private sector who are at best disingenuous in their claims of continuing attempts to rein in spending. A true and viable solution exists that will forever change Department of Defense acquisition processes, and it’s designated Transformational Recapitalization,” says Myron D. Stokes, Managing Member.

GE PRESENTS: A CELEBRATION OF FLIGHT

Boeing X-37 Orbital Spaceplane   Image: Boeing

Publisher's Note: Within its "Celebration of Flight" series, the GE people have crafted an intricate yet beautiful cinematic ballet of flying in all its glory by bringing together the multitude of take-offs and landings that occur over the course of a single day. And, among other items of note, a detailed look at a satellite-based air traffic management system that takes yet another step towards a paradigm shift in how the world's airways are utilized.

Many will agree with GE's sentiment expressed thusly: "Holiday air travel is notoriously stressful, filled with long lines and seeming-endless delays. But one technology may change the entire experience of flying, by helping keep planes on schedule, using crowded airspace more efficiently, and letting airlines cut fuel use and emissions.

"Known as RNP, for Required Navigation Performance, the technology replaces traditional, land-based beacons that have guided planes for decades. Instead, it uses satellites and sophisticated computers aboard the plane itself to create highly specific flight paths that are shorter and more exact than the ones provided by today’s outdated ground-based network."

As one who has had the privilege of flying British Airways Concorde four times before its retirement in 2003 -including an opportunity to sit in the FAA observer's seat from roll-out to 60,000ft at Mach 2.02 (1,340 mph) - flying backseat in former Group 44 Jaguar Racing executive Bob Tullius' P-51 Mustang,  and looping a Stearman with former Jaguar NA President Mike Dale, I never cease to be amazed by the wonder of flight...

Enjoy,
